    Great movies aren’t always made up on a big budget, large scale, with A listed actors, but with sheer creativity, and with the guts to bend the rules to deliver a brilliant narrative with an engaging story. And of course, sometimes we just need little to no budget to deliver such brilliant films. Today we shall be talking about 10 such movies that you must watch.

    Aamis (Ravening, 2019)

    Aamis is a low budget Indian drama thriller that revolves around the story of a married doctor and a young man, who develop a really strange romantic relationship, which initially begins as a normal slice of life romance film but soon it takes a darker turn, involving some psychological and spine chilling themes

    What Makes It Unique – Overall Aamis is a romance movie but its layered with thriller and psychological elements, especially for those who love dark themed movies. Honestly if you love low budget, underrated type dark movies then trust you should not miss out on this one.

    Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022)

    Bodies Bodies Bodies is one of those rare thrillers that perfectly embodies the Gen Z elements and combines it with whodunnit genre. Its story revolves around a really young and privileged Gen Z group who decide to host a Hurricane party, they gather up in a mansion owned by one of their friends and decide to cherish the moment together, and have as much fun as possible, so they decide to play Bodies, Bodies Bodies, which ultimately turns out into a nightmare when one of the player gets killed by someone, creating havoc and panic among the group regarding the killer might me.

    What is Bodies Bodies Bodies Game?

    Bodies Bodies Bodies is a mystery game where the players have to identify a hidden killer among the group, it’s a non-harmful game and usually played for fun, but in this film, the fun game becomes the new nightmare for our protagonists.

    What’s Unique About The Film – The acting in this film is really good, and the way it depicts the Gen Z culture plus combining it with a mystery killer genre and setting it up in a small isolated place. That’s something really interesting about the film.

    Time Lapse (2014)

    Time Lapse is a really good thriller about time & fate, its story revolves around three friends who discover a camera that clicks photos of future, using which they decide to alter their future for their own benefit, but should they do that? And does it have any consequences?

    Why Its Unique – Made on a low budget, this film heavily relies on acting and indie style treatment of “time” making it interesting watch, because some of us, we always what If we know what our future will be, and in some way taking that as a concept this film did a brilliant job at delivering a really good thriller.

    Cube (1997)

    Cube tells the story of a group of people who gets trapped inside a deadly labyrinth of cube shaped rooms “inside a cube” without any knowledge why or how they got inside it. All they know is it’s a deadly maze, equipped with death traps, one mistake and they can lose their life. The only way to make it out alive is by playing it together and figuring out the secrets of the cube.

    Why its unique – Cube is cult classic low budget thriller film, known for its atmospheric thriller vibe and probably its one of the best survive the death game kind of genre.

    Triangle

    Triangle is an interesting low budget sci fi mystery movie that can will make you think. It tells the story of a group of friends who take shelter in a cruise during a storm but what they did not expect was, they are the target of an unknown killer who slowly starts killing the group, one after another, will they able to survive the cruise? Or the cruise’s mystery will swallow them up, this forms the premise of the film Triangle.

    Why Its Unique – The psychological & mystery elements are really well depicted in the film. Do give it a try if you love mind blending type of films.

    Circle is a very interesting film, and probably one of the best low budget films, that explores & plays with human morality like none other. It tells the story of 50 people who are now part of  a death game, where they are, or how they got there is a mystery but they have to do is in order to survive they must vote and play the game of who must survive and who should not.

    Why its unique – Its portrayal of human morality is probably one of the best out their, the way it creates psychological tension will keep you hooked. Overall it’s a really engaging low budget thriller that will keep you hooked till the end.

    Coherence

    Coherence follows a really tense mystery thriller story, about a group of friends attending a dinner party but their life changes forever after a comet passes over them, which triggers blizzard unexplainable events like collision of multiple realities, creating a paranoia environment. Will they survive the night? this forms the base of the story.

    Why its unique – Coherence takes up a beautiful yet a strong scientific phenomenon like multiple reality and blends it with human condition and human drama, making it a very thought-provoking watch. Personally its one of my favorite low budget thriller.

    The Gift

    The Gift is a brilliant low budget thriller that follows the story of two people Simon & Gordo, two friends, who meet in an unexpected way after years of gap. Everything seemed normal until Gordo starts behaving in a suspicious way, raising concerns for Simon. What follows next is heavy psychological thriller drama, that will keep you hooked till the end.

    Why Its Unique – Without spoiling much, The Gift is a true gem of psychological writing, I mean this is how psychological thrillers should be written. Its dark, its suspenseful and it create a unsettling vibe, that you must watch if you are a fan of such films.

    Game Over (2019)

    Game Over 2019 is a brilliant low budget Indian thriller, that personally kept me hooked till the end of the film. Its story revolves around a game designer suffering from PTSD, who lives in a house equipped with cameras and all kinds of security measures, trying to cope up with her PTSD, But unfortunately one night all hell breaks loose when her house get attacked by a couple of intruders, will she survive the night? or her PTSD will overpower her? This forms the premise of Game Over.

    Why Its Unique – Its basically an interesting home invasion film, that perfectly blends psychological thriller, human drama and suspense.

    Exam

    Exam is a psychological thriller that questions human ethics, morality, decision making in a thrilling way. Its plot revolves around 8 participants who take part in a mysterious high stakes exam where they are given exactly 80 minutes to solve the questions but to their surprise the question paper is blank, and they must together take the ultimate decisions that will ultimately affect their fate.

    Why Its Unique – Set in a small room Exam is a really gripping thriller that tries to explore a lot of themes especially about human nature and delivers a really good thriller, filled with twists and turns.
